Now that a large section of the nation is working from home and some are furloughed with no-where to go, you many are finding themselves sat down for longer periods of time. Whether you are sat arched over a makeshift desk or slouched in front of the television, putting your body in these positions, can, over time, result in back pain, poor posture and even injury. Our online Pilates classes can help relieve these aches and pains and will have you practising better posture in no time!

How It Can Help

Pilates was originally invented as a rehabilitative exercise, which focuses on lengthening and shortening the spine using a serious of carefully executed moves. Most classes begin with the instructor walking through a sequence of moves that do this and will regularly remind participants throughout the class to focus on the key performance skills. These are, shoulders back, chest out, neck lengthened and tummy in tight and together these muscular contractions amount to the correct posture that should be consistent throughout the workout and beyond.

Physio-led Classes

Our online Pilates classes are led by our expert physiotherapists who have spent years training and have an in-depth understanding of the body’s limitations. By assessing each individual in the class, our instructors have a good understanding of any unique conditions and will offer alternative moves for those who may need them. Rest assured, good posture is attainable by everybody, even those with long term injury and our physiotherapists can help to ensure your body reaches its proper and aligned state.

No Equipment Practice

The great thing about good posture is that you can practice it all of the time, without any equipment. Unlike lifting weights, doing intense cardio or even isolating muscles, correctly sitting in a chair, or walking down the street can do wonders for your supporting muscles and can be practiced with ease. Those who do our online Pilates classes are often more aware of their posture and seek to improve it more in their day to day lives.
